Inverness
We have had another busy year here in Inverness; it seems no time at all since I was last writing a piece for the annual report. Since then I have been involved in running two more training courses with volunteers from almost all areas. The second training course had several volunteers from Inverness area. My thanks to all these new volunteers who along with existing volunteers are now working hard with a wide variety of referrals.
I have also been busy giving talks to groups the most recent being the Rotary Club of Loch Ness, who were involved in organising the information event held at Inverness Leisure during September. This event was to raise awareness of all groups and voluntary agencies in Inverness. I have also taken part in a Diversity Day at Inverness College and at a Pregnancy to Five Information Day at Inshes Church. As well as these activities I have been advocating for several people myself mainly for people with long term issues.
My next task is now to recruit more volunteers in Inverness area and train them. This is an ongoing process as volunteers take up a variety of opportunities or employment. The role of co-ordinator with Advocacy Highland is very varied and never dull.
