Badenoch & Strathspey
This year has been one of consolidation for Advocacy Highland in Badenoch & Strathspey with the numbers of referrals gradually increasing over the year. My thanks to our small team of volunteers who have remained loyal and committed to providing a generic advocacy service in the area?
Various training events have been attended by the Co-ordinator and volunteers including Communication with People with Learning Disabilities, Protecting Vulnerable Adults and Human Rights and Advocacy.
One area of work that we have been keen to progress has been working with young people. The Co-ordinator was invited to speak to sixth form students at Kingussie High School during their “fresher” week to raise awareness of advocacy and offer training opportunities for young people to become volunteer advocates.
